The San Francisco 49ers held their 10th full training camp practice on Monday as they continued preparations for the 2026 NFL season. The team will host the Tennessee Titans in Thursday night's preseason opener.

The 49ers announced two roster moves ahead of practice. The team signed offensive lineman Doug Kramer Jr. to a one-year deal and released offensive lineman Nick Zakelj, who had been dealing with an elbow injury.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan was on the field for most of the 49ers' practice session. Shanahan continues to ramp up his workload as he recovers from injuries sustained in a July 14 car accident.

Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice was in attendance to watch the 49ers practice.

The 49ers worked out the following two running backs:

San Francisco also hosted running back Blake Watson for a visit.

Below are some of the key takeaways from the 10:15 a.m. PT practice at the SAP Performance Facility, compiled from multiple media reports.

Injury updates

Defensive end Nick Bosa missed his fourth straight full practice due to soreness. Even before being sidelined, Bosa was limited in practice, held out of team drills as he works his way back from last season's ACL injury.

Running back Christian McCaffrey was given the day off after dealing with some "tightness."

"A little sore, but he's doing fine, so just kind of managing him as we go," offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak said of McCaffrey's setback.

Offensive notes

Quarterback Brock Purdy threw two pick-sixes during Saturday's practice. He bounced back well on Monday with an impressive outing. Purdy connected with De'Zhaun Stribling on a 50-yard pass down the right sideline while the rookie wide receiver was matched up against safety Marques Sigle, and later hit wide receiver Demarcus Robinson on a deep touchdown pass. He also connected with wide receiver Deebo Samuel over the middle for a big gain.

ESPN's Nick Wagoner had Purdy completing 10 of his 13 pass attempts. A couple of targets—Samuel and running back Sincere McCormick—dropped passes.

Stribling split a couple of one-on-one reps against Nate Hobbs, with the cornerback defending a pass before giving up a completion on the next rep. Stribling struggled to haul in a couple of passes from quarterback Mac Jones (see below for more on one). However, the rookie receiver caught all three targets from Purdy. The two appear to be building a good rapport during camp.

Rookie offensive lineman Carver Willis got some work at left guard with the second team, with Connor Colby at right guard. Veteran Robert Jones continues to work with the first-team offensive line at left guard. It sure looks like Jones is the frontrunner for that starting job, though the 49ers insist there is still an open competition.

Right tackle Colton McKivitz, who played well last season, continued to shine in one-on-one pass-rush drills. However, rookie defensive end Romello Height did get past him in one matchup.

The running back depth chart is thinning with Christian McCaffrey, Kaelon Black, Jordan James, and Isaac Guerendo sidelined. That means more reps for some of the fringe players looking to make an impression.

"You talk about guys like Patrick Taylor, Sincere McCormick, and Khalil [Herbert], who we brought in," Kubiak said. "It gives us a chance to get Deebo in there a little bit and get some touches.

The lack of running back depth also led to the previously mentioned workouts for two free-agent running backs.

Defensive notes

Linebacker Fred Warner looks ready for the regular season. He had a would-be sack against Purdy, who tried and failed to evade the pressure by scrambling. Warner also collided with wide receiver Junior Bergen after a short catch.

Cornerback Jack Jones continues to have a strong camp, hauling in another interception as quarterback Adrian Martinez targeted wide receiver Jordan Watkins. The interception was seemingly returned for a score and was Monday's only interception.

Linebacker Tatum Bethune broke up a pass from Mac Jones that was intended for De'Zhaun Stribling.

While two of Brock Purdy's three incompletions on the day were the result of drops, the other was because rookie linebacker Jaden Dugger broke up a pass intended for Demarcus Robinson.

Next practice

The 49ers will hold a joint practice with the visiting Titans on Tuesday, August 11 at 10:15 a.m. The session will be open to fans.
