San Francisco is reportedly signing veteran punter Corliss Waitman, a move that closes Morstead's time in the Bay Area after just one season with the 49ers.
Following news of the signing, Morstead took to social media to express gratitude for his experience in San Francisco.
"Thank you, 49ers," Morstead wrote. "First class organization. Elite culture built by amazing teammates and coaches. Grateful for the experience."
Morstead was part of a trio of new special team contributors who joined the 49ers in 2025, including kicker Eddy Piñeiro and long snapper Jon Weeks. Piñeiro and Weeks were both re-signed this offseason.
During his lone season with the 49ers, Morstead appeared in all 17 games. He totaled 44 punts for 1,919 yards, averaging 43.6 yards per punt with a long of 55 yards. He also placed 22 of his 44 punts inside the 20-yard line while recording just one touchback.
Additionally, Morstead added four punts for 154 yards across two postseason games. The veteran punter has now played 17 seasons in the NFL.
