Disgruntled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk continues to take shots at the San Francisco 49ers on social media.
This time, Aiyuk sarcastically suggested the 49ers want him back—a scenario that, at this point, seems highly unlikely. In the process, he also appeared to take a swipe at head coach Kyle Shanahan.
"Coach want me to come back so l can draw all the coverage and make it easy for the guys that remind him of himself from back in his heyday," Aiyuk wrote on Instagram, adding several emojis, including thumbs-down and trash can icons.
After the 49ers selected wide receiver Ricky Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Shanahan jokingly compared the rookie to himself when asked for a player comparison.
"He reminds me of myself—just a lot faster, a lot better, much better hands, can jump, can just do everything much better," Shanahan said.
Aiyuk also touted his own production despite what he believes were limited opportunities.
"I hold a NFL RECORD for making plays w the least amount of opportunities!!!" Aiyuk wrote. "Im looking for MY opp cuz I'm gone capitalize and win a bowl! I'm not gone fumble it away!!"
Following Super Bowl LVIII, Aiyuk was frustrated, believing the 49ers coaching staff failed to utilize him effectively, contributing to the team's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
He also took aim at the electrical substation near the 49ers' facility, referencing a conspiracy theory that the nearby power station has contributed to the team's recent rash of injuries.
"I'm not returning to the power plant wtf," Aiyuk wrote, followed by several laughing emojis.

Aiyuk's continued social media activity has fueled speculation about whether his behavior could hurt his chances of landing with another NFL team. For now, he remains on the 49ers' reserve/left squad list after refusing to file for reinstatement—a required step before the team can release him.
Although another team could eventually take a chance on the talented receiver, his increasingly erratic and self-destructive social media posts are likely raising concerns across the league.
