There were no surprises in Wednesday's practice participation report. Head coach Kyle Shanahan had already stated that defensive end Robert Beal Jr., linebacker Tatum Bethune, and kicker Eddy Piñeiro would not practice. Bethune and Piñeiro are expected to miss some time, while Beal remains in the concussion protocol.
The 49ers recently signed Matt Gay to the practice squad to fill in for Piñeiro, who is recovering from a Grade 1 right hamstring strain.
Shanahan added that linebacker Luke Gifford would be limited during practice.
As expected, running back Christian McCaffrey and tackle Trent Williams received their typical veteran rest day.
Below are Thursday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Panthers, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
