- Linebacker Tatum Bethune suffered a high-ankle sprain and is expected to miss multiple weeks.
- Kicker Eddy Piñeiro is considered week-to-week with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain.
- Defensive end Robert Beal Jr. entered the NFL's concussion protocol.
Linebacker Curtis Robinson is expected to step in to replace Bethune.
When asked if the 49ers need to bring in linebackers for tryouts, Shanahan said, "I'm sure we'll bring in somebody, possibly, for practice squad. Tatum, I don't think he's going to go on IR (injured reserve), especially with our bye week and stuff. So, I don't know if we'll have the roster spot for that. But we also have [LB] Jalen [Graham] on practice squad, who would be the next man up, so we'll see how that works out with the whole roster."
San Francisco will bring in kickers for tryouts in the coming days as the team evaluates temporary replacements for Piñeiro.
"They're working on that now. They're going to do it either tomorrow or Wednesday," Shanahan said.
Brandon Aiyuk and Jacob Cowing updates
The wait for Brandon Aiyuk's return continues. The 49ers won't open the receiver's practice window this week. Aiyuk continues to work his way back from the ACL and MCL injuries he sustained last season and remains week-to-week.
Another wideout, Jacob Cowing (hamstring), may be nearing a return. Shanahan noted that the 49ers could open his practice window during the team's late-season stretch of games.
"I'm sure Jacob will probably be after the bye week," Shanahan said. "And then Brandon is just week-to-week. When he had such a big injury like that, just wait until he's fully comfortable to come up and start practicing."
