San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Kalia Davis is set to miss time after suffering an injury during Thursday night's thrilling overtime win against the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed after the game that Davis sustained a broken hand in the second quarter, forcing him to leave the game.

Shanahan noted that the team would make a decision on Davis' status on Friday. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Davis is scheduled to undergo surgery on his broken hand and could miss as few as two games. Even when he returns, he will likely be forced to play with a protective cast.



Davis has started all five games for the 49ers this season, recording seven tackles, including two tackles for loss. After his exit, rookie defensive lineman Alfred Collins stepped in and made a significant impact.

Collins registered two tackles, a quarterback hit, and a game-changing forced fumble and recovery that helped the 49ers avoid what could have been a crushing defeat.
