Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that Jennings underwent an MRI on Monday that showed no significant issues. However, the 49ers waited for the results of a follow-up CT scan before making a final determination.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, those additional scans came back clean. Jennings is officially considered day-to-day and has a chance to suit up for Sunday's matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
This update is welcome news for San Francisco, a team already dealing with several early-season injuries. Tight end George Kittle was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury and will miss at least four games. Quarterback Brock Purdy is nursing left shoulder and toe injuries, leaving his Week 2 status uncertain.
The 49ers also saw left guard Ben Bartch suffer a mild knee strain, though he is considered day-to-day.
If Purdy is unable to play against New Orleans, Mac Jones is expected to get the start at quarterback. Having Jennings available would provide a much-needed boost for the offense as San Francisco looks to improve to 2-0 on the season.
