Bourne worked out for the 49ers in Santa Clara on Monday, and reports indicated that the team extended him a contract offer ahead of his scheduled visit with Washington.
San Francisco's receiving corps received a boost on Monday when Jauan Jennings returned to practice. While he will be a limited practice participant on Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan said the veteran receiver is expected to play in Sunday's season opener against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.
Bourne, 30, spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the 49ers, making him well-versed in Kyle Shanahan's offensive system. He later signed with the New England Patriots in 2021, where he played the past four seasons.
Across his eight-year NFL career, Bourne has recorded 292 receptions for 3,714 yards and 22 touchdowns.
