SANTA CLARA — Brock Purdy made it a point to meet up with a few young 49ers receivers in Nashville over the offseason, and the extra work already is paying off. Rookie De’Zhaun Stribling and second-year receiver Jordan Watkins spent time with Purdy, Mac Jones and George Kittle before reporting to training camp, and the star quarterback has noticed a difference.
“Yeah, I thought it was huge,” Purdy said Monday. “We got a couple days of work in. Some guys came in and just emphasizing the simple things, the routes. Obviously getting on the same page when we’re trying to throw and getting the timing right and all that.”
The 49ers’ offense got an immeasurable boost with the addition of All-Pro wideout Mike Evans to the mix during the offseason, but the team also understands the need to develop its younger targets.
Of the 49ers players with the most receiving yards during the 2025 NFL season, only one of the top three was a wide receiver — Jauan Jennings, who registered 55 catches for 643 yards in his final campaign as a Niner.
