When left tackle Trent Williams agreed to a new two-year contract with the 49ers this offseason, he said he believes that it will be the final one that he signs.

Williams turned 38 this month and he said that he expects the 2027 season to be his final one as an active player. On Sunday, Williams was asked if that mindset has led him to take on a different approach to this training camp.

"I wouldn't say it changed my urgency, but it does change my mind frame a little bit," Williams said, via 49ersWebzone.com. "Like, instead of just coming to work, I actually try to soak it in. I just don't know. Obviously, you know, it could be my last two years. It's probably the plan."

Williams was a second-team All-Pro last season and remains a vital part of the 49ers' plans for 2026, so any moments of contemplation about the big picture of his career will play out alongside his preparation to continue playing at a high level for a team hoping to make a long run in the postseason.
