SANTA CLARA — The 49ers on Saturday played four players on active/physically unable to perform.Most notably, defensive end Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner were not on that list.
Tight end George Kittle, who continues to make progress from a torn Achilles sustained in January, was listed on the PUP list, along with defensive linemen Mykel Williams (knee) and Alfred Collins (shoulder), and running back Isaac Guerendo (pectoral).
The 49ers expect to open the practice window for Collins early in camp, 49ers general manager John Lynch said.
Lynch expressed optimism about Kittle having a chance to be cleared for the start of the regular season. He said he has gotten positive reports from Dr. Neal ElAttrache, a leading orthopedic surgeon in sports medicine.
“Dr. ElAttrache went on and on about how fast George is healing,” Lynch said.
Bosa, who sustained a torn ACL in Week 3, and Warner have been cleared to participate in at least limited practice at the opening of training camp. Warner would have been available to play later in the NFC playoffs after sustaining a fractured and...
