As expected, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has had his bank account transformed after transforming the 49ers in just five starts in 2017: On Thursday, Garoppolo signed a five-year contract worth up to $137.5 million. The per-year average of $27.5 million is the richest in NFL history. The contract also has nearly $90 million in guarantees in the first three years, which is also the most in league history, ESPN reported. The mega-deal comes after Garoppolo, 26, assumed the starting job on a 1-10 team and began a December to remember.
