On Saturday, the San Francisco 49ers announced the following roster moves ahead of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons:
- Activated WR Christian Kirk from the injured reserve list
- Elevated LB Jalen Graham from the team's practice squad (standard elevation)
- Elevated DE Ogbo Okoronkwo from the practice squad (standard elevation)
- Released DT Kevin Givens from the practice squad
Kirk has been sidelined since the beginning of training camp after suffering a calf injury. The 29-year-old was signed by San Francisco in March after spending the 2025 season with the Houston Texans. He appeared in 13 games last season, recording 28 receptions for 239 yards and one touchdown. He had a strong postseason last year, finishing with 10 receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns in two games.
Kirk brings nine years of NFL experience to a receiving group dealing with several injuries. His return gives quarterback Brock Purdy another experienced option in the passing game as San Francisco looks to navigate the mounting injury issues. Kirk has appeared in 106 career regular-season games, totaling 432 receptions for 5,415 yards and 30 touchdowns.
Graham, who was selected by the 49ers in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, has spent time with the 49ers on their practice squad and has appeared in 16 games, including San Francisco's October 19 game against the Washington Commanders. The move gives the 49ers additional linebacker depth for the Atlanta matchup. Graham has played some on defense, but most of his work has been on special teams.
Okoronkwo, a fifth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2018, has played for the Rams, Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, and Philadelphia Eagles. Across his NFL career, he has appeared in 87 regular-season games, recording 134 tackles and 18 sacks. He has also appeared in seven postseason games. This season, Okoronkwo has appeared in all six of the 49ers' games, recording one sack and three QB hits.
Givens, 29, originally joined the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State in 2019. He has spent most of his NFL career in San Francisco, appearing in 71 regular-season games with 14 starts. Over that span, he has recorded 94 tackles, eight sacks, and one forced fumble. The move ends his latest stint with the organization after he signed a one-year deal in July and later returned to the practice squad. Givens appeared in just one game with the 49ers this season, recording two tackles and one QB hit.
