According to the NFL transaction report, the San Francisco 49ers worked out four linebackers on Wednesday as they prepare for Monday night's matchup against the Washington Commanders.
The players who worked out were:
- Eugene Asante
- Jamon Johnson
- Kobe King
- Anfernee Orji
The workouts come as the 49ers deal with uncertainty at linebacker heading into Week 6. Dre Greenlaw will miss Monday night's game after the NFL suspended him for one game for unsportsmanlike conduct. Greenlaw headbutted Seattle Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV during San Francisco's Week 5 win. Greenlaw wore his helmet during the sideline incident, while Jones did not.
Additionally, linebacker Garret Wallow is dealing with a hamstring strain sustained against Seattle. Head coach Kyle Shanahan expects him to miss at least a couple of weeks.
The 49ers will hold their first practice of the week on Thursday, followed by sessions on Friday and Saturday, as they prepare to host the Commanders at Levi's Stadium.
