Schefter: 49ers will have George Kittle and Nick Bosa vs. Rams

ESPN insider Adam Schefter shared some San Francisco 49ers injury updates ahead of their Week 1 clash with the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia. His news should not come as a surprise to fans who have followed the team's injury updates throughout the week.

But if you haven't kept up, let's recap what Schefter had to say.

Neither tight end George Kittle nor defensive end Nick Bosa was given an injury designation on Wednesday, indicating that both players were expected to suit up and contribute when the 49ers take the field at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Kittle is returning from an Achilles injury suffered just eight months ago, making his recovery and early return remarkable.

"So the Niners have George Kittle back," Schefter said on the Pat McAfee Show. "He tore his Achilles in January. He, obviously, went and met with his doctor, Neal ElAttrache, when the 49ers were having practices with the Chargers, and they knew that he was way ahead of schedule. And it's obviously shown up, because he's going to be out there tonight."

Bosa is returning from the torn ACL that limited him to three games last season. It was his second ACL injury since the 49ers selected him No. 2 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft and his third overall.

He, too, will play.

"Now, we'll see how effective he is, but he's going to be out there tonight for the 49ers," Schefter said of Bosa.

Schefter also reported that running back Christian McCaffrey appears healthy and ready to handle his usual workload. Additionally, wide receiver Mike Evans, who missed some time during training camp due to minor injuries, is expected to play.

"So, it sounds like, by and large, the 49ers that we've known through the years will be out there," Schefter added.
