San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans, the team's prized offensive free-agent addition this offseason, is dealing with a groin injury. The most recent setback comes after he missed time at training camp with a quad strain.
On Tuesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that the 49ers hope to get Evans back at practice next week, following the mandatory days off after Thursday night's preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders.
It sounds like Evans is fairly confident he will be ready for Week 1, when the 49ers travel to Melbourne, Australia, to face the Los Angeles Rams.
"49ers wide receiver Mike Evans plans to play Week 1 despite dealing with injuries this camp, per source," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported. "His latest, a groin issue, is considered minor barring a change."

Several other injured players are expected to return to practice next week, including defensive end Nick Bosa (knee tendinitis), wide receiver Jacob Cowing (groin), and cornerback Upton Stout (hip flexor).
The 49ers are also hopeful that offensive linemen Robert Jones (calf) and Austen Pleasants (knee), along with quarterback Kurtis Rourke (ribs), could return.
Additionally, the ramp-up of tight end George Kittle's workload could include him rejoining team drills next week. Kittle, who is recovering from an Achilles injury, was activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on Sunday and has participated in warmups and individual drills since returning to the practice field.
