San Francisco 49ers fans are becoming increasingly excited about the team's top draft pick, wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling. The rookie pass catcher has stood out throughout training camp and continued to impress in his first two preseason games.
Stribling has recorded 11 receptions for 109 yards through two exhibition games. Against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night, three of his four catches went for first downs, helping the 49ers cruise to a 41-17 victory at SoFi Stadium.
NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche was at the game and spoke with Stribling following the 49ers' win. Despite his impressive performance, the rookie offered a humble assessment when asked about his night.

"Just trying to do my part just to help the whole offense roll, keep it going, have a good rhythm out there," Stribling said. "So, just doing my 1-11 (1/11th referring to one player among 11 on the field)."

Stribling added that while his playing time during the preseason is limited, the games provide valuable opportunities for continued growth. He is gaining experience within the 49ers' offense while adjusting to the speed and intensity of an actual NFL game.
While Stribling came away with four receptions against the Chargers, there was one missed opportunity that could have resulted in another 49ers touchdown. A potential scoring catch slipped through the young receiver's hands in the end zone.
"Just dropped it," Stribling said. "Just dropped it, so got to go back to the JUGS machines, catch more balls, and practice it more so it doesn't happen again."

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about the missed touchdown opportunity and acknowledged that Stribling still has plenty of room for growth. However, Shanahan believes the rookie has the ability to make plays like that and needs to learn to capitalize on his opportunities.
"Mac [Jones] threw it about as early as you can, so I don't think he picked it up until it was about three yards away from him, which makes it a real tough catch," Shanahan said. "But he's got the ability to do it, so he needs to come down with that one."
Stribling plans to continue working hard and developing as a player, making sure his teammates know they can count on him when his number is called.
"Just trying to stack," he said. "Just stacking days, catch the ball, score touchdowns, get upfield, do what I can just to help this whole offense go."
