@LombardiHimself40 rushes for Atlanta, the most by a 49ers' opponent in a game since 2018, before SF was a good team.In that Week 9 loss to Arizona last season that I'm citing as a comp, the Cardinals racked up 39 rushes vs SF

@TracyFGSNKyle Shanahan said that both Trent Williams and Nick Bosa could be back for next weeks game against the Chiefs. #49ers

@nwagoner#49ers did not score in the second half today. They're averaging 6 offensive points per second half this season (27th in NFL) and 4.81 yards per play (26th) in those halves. Those numbers down from 12 points (12th) and 6.7 yards per play (5th) in the first half.

@nwagonerOne thing #49ers HC Kyle Shanahan lamented today was game flow. Defense allowed Falcons into manageable 3rd downs, which often resulted in conversions. ATL was 9-14 on 3rd down, the 2nd-highest conversion % allowed by Niners since Shanahan took over in 2017.

@LombardiHimselfDaniel Brunskill said he got his first work at right tackle since 2019 this past Wednesday. The 49ers' pass protection was good despite this. Notable that Brunskill did indeed return to his former swing tackle role. He saw a lot of success there in 2019

@LombardiHimself49ers obviously need to heal up, especially w Bosa. He's a huge part of the formula to rediscover defensive backbone.More bigger picture: Garoppolo was at his most accurate post-surgery today. That can go a long way if execution around him improves. Felt like '21 Wk9 Arizona L

@nwagoner#49ers HC Kyle Shanahan uncertain on the severity of injuries to CB Mooney Ward (groin) and RT Mike McGlinchey (calf). If youre looking for some positive injury news (and you probably are), Shanahan said OT Trent Williams could be set to return next week against Kansas City.

@Eric_Branch#49ers LT Trent Williams (ankle) has a chance to play next Sunday vs. Chiefs, Shanahan said.

@LombardiHimselfShanahan says Jimmy Garoppolo was on fire in the first half and that the game couldve gone differently if the 49ers hadnt squandered his two perfect deep throws to McCloud (dropped) and Aiyuk (penalty). Says JG played an overall good game
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfShanahan says the 49ers are expecting Javon Kinlaw to return this season. He went on IR yesterday
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfShanahan says that the 49ers knew theyd only have two more possessions, which is why they didnt panic and ran that penultimate drive deliberately.Fair enough, but those third- and fourth-down play calls seemed to have some panic embedded in them. Typical sneak situation
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfShanahan is crediting with Atlanta for winning game flow in the style that the 49ers usually employ: I thought they controlled the ball really well.
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfShanahan on 49ers injuries: We had our chances to overcome. We made it harder on ourselves.
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfWe knew we had to come out strong, especially a little depleted. Shanahan 49ers obviously did the opposite
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfLot of parity (mediocrity?) in NFL. 49ers in their injured state contribute plenty to the latter, at least today. But 3-3 is no disaster considering that. What it is: Missed opportunity. SF has lost three very winnable games and thatll make avoiding the road in January very hard

@LombardiHimselfFalcons 28, 49ers 14. Kansas City comes to Levi's Stadium next week. SF has a lot of healing to do especially on the defensive end and will have to execute leaps and bounds better on offense if it's to have a shot against Patrick Mahomes and Co.
-
Profile
@LombardiHimself49ers rushed for only 50 yards on 16 carries today 3.1 per carry. 168 rushing yards for Atlanta 4.2 per carry.Falcons essentially took the Shanahan formula and successfully used it against SF
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfFalcons will beat 49ers, who'll fall to 3-3. SF is very injured, yes, but this would've been a winnable game for them if some basics had been executed properly. Alas, too many drops, a failure to schematically account for Mariota read option and some damaging penalties did 'em in
-
Profile
@grantcohnThe 49ers haven't faced a good team yet and they're 3-3.
-
Profile
@grantcohnThe Falcons offense came into the game averaging 23.6 points per game, and the 49ers' backups on defense held them to 21.The Falcons defense came into the game allowing 24.4 points per game coming into this, and the 49ers offense scored just 14. Yikes.
-
Profile
@nwagonerDespite all the injuries, the #49ers defense actually held up OK, just not the dominant level we've seen. But in the current state, the onus today fell to the offense to pick up that slack. It wasn't up to the task. That better change in a hurry as injuries continue to mount.
-
Profile
@grantcohnThe 49ers defense was better than the 49ers offense in this game.
-
Profile
@mattbarrowsGaroppolo had plenty of time on that fourth-down throw, rushed it. That's going to be one of the ironies of this game: The 49ers had injuries along the offensive line but the Falcons couldn't muster much pass rush. The 49ers squandered that.
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfThat drive was not a good reflection of Kyle Shanahan. No 49ers' urgency re: the clock and then an inexplicable shotgun alignment and pass on 4th and short when the QB sneak has been a foolproof option
-
Profile
@MaioccoNBCSJimmy Garoppolo's fourth-down pass falls incomplete, and that's a wrap from Atlanta. (Well, not entirely, please tune into the postgame show and the #49ers Talk podcast.)
-
Profile
@CamInman4th-and-1, #49ers let play clock get down to 9, and instead of a Garoppolo sneak, it's an incompletion into double coverage on low throw toward Deebo, 2:34 to go
-

@CamInmanThis fourth-quarter comeback attempt started with Deebo making 27-yard catch-and-run that bowled over Falcons defender, followed by Brandon Aiyuk diving catch on third-and-12. Deebo turned -10 loss into 1-yard gain on blown-up screen. So, 49ers at ATL 46, 2nd-and-14, 4:21 to go
