Speaking to reporters after the 49ers' first training camp practice on Sunday, Williams was asked whether entering the final chapter of his career has created a greater sense of urgency.
"I wouldn't say it changed my urgency, but it does change my mind frame a little bit," Williams said. "Like, instead of just coming to work, I actually try to soak it in. I just don't know. Obviously, you know, it could be my last two years. It's probably the plan."

Despite turning 38 earlier this month, Williams remains one of the NFL's premier offensive linemen. Since being selected fourth overall by Washington in the 2010 NFL Draft, he has built a résumé that should one day earn him football immortality—a place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The 49ers have a lot of young talent in the offensive line room, including several recent draft picks like Carver Willis, Enrique Cruz, and Connor Colby. The team will undoubtedly lean on Williams to mentor those less-experienced players, who have long looked up to the veteran tackle.
Williams understands the importance of passing along his knowledge while he still has the opportunity.
"So I'm just really trying to soak in every day, build these relationships, take advantage of it, because once that window closes, it generally don't open back up," Williams said.
