Fred Warner and Nick Bosa cleared for training camp
The update also provided positive news for linebacker Fred Warner and defensive end Nick Bosa. Both players have been cleared to participate at the start of training camp after recovering from injuries. Warner is coming off an ankle injury, while Bosa is returning from a torn ACL.
"Those guys are diligent, hard workers," Lynch said of Warner and Bosa. "Not only incredibly talented players, but they're kind of tone-setters for the way they work. That's inspiring to their teammates."
Lynch said that Warner and Bosa have been around the facility all offseason. Bosa typically trains in Florida, but stayed in the Bay Area for the most part.
"I think he's feeling really good as a result," Lynch added. "So, it's wonderful when your best players are your best leaders. And I think we've got great examples of that in those two players.
"As for their injuries, Nick's doing tremendous. Nick has always had a different schedule. He's got a great sense, a great instinct for his body and what he needs. He'll probably start in a phase, individual first, and then we'll add as we see fit, as he sees fit.
"Fred, you can't hold that guy back. He wants to be full throttle, and I think he will be. You guys know how close he came to being ready at the end of last season. I think all that hard work only made it better as he entered this offseason."
49ers part ways with two players, add a tight end
Lynch also announced several roster moves, with the 49ers parting ways with defensive tackle Evan Anderson and tight end Khalil Dinkins.
Anderson was released, while Dinkins was waived from the non-football injury list.
To add depth at tight end, San Francisco is signing Tanner McLachlan, who has previously spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Chargers.
John Lynch provides updates on 49ers players on PUP list
Although four players will begin training camp on the PUP list, Lynch indicated that the team is optimistic about each player's recovery timeline and does not expect the injuries to become long-term concerns.
"George's rehab is coming tremendous," Lynch said of Kittle. "I know you guys have heard from him, and he's doing really well. And that's, that's very exciting. He's doing everything possible to be ready for Week 1, and we're thrilled with his progress."
Regarding the potential toll of Kittle playing in an international game to open the regular season, Lynch emphasized that the 49ers are taking a cautious approach with his recovery.
"We have to take everything into account," he said. "George knows that, our doctors know that, and we'll be very careful. And yet, if he's ready, he's ready, and I think that's what he's eager to show us, and excited for that process. But he has been tremendous in the process, and it kind of speaks to who George is."
Lynch also provided updates on the other three players.
"Isaac Guerendo is going to start on the active PUP," Lynch said. "He's doing very well. Mykel Williams, doing extremely well. What I would say with Mykel, he's making every effort to be ready for Week 1. We'll see if that's a reality, and we'll let the markers and the medical staff kind of dictate that.
"Alfred Collins will start on PUP, but we anticipate him back in about the second window. Don't hold us to that timeline, but that's the plan right now, and if he keeps hitting the markers, that's about when Alfred will be back."
The 49ers will continue monitoring each player's progress as training camp moves forward, with several key contributors working toward being available for the start of the 2026 season.
