San Francisco 49ers veterans are set to report to the SAP Performance Facility in Santa Clara today for the start of training camp. The team's first full-squad practice is scheduled for Sunday as the 49ers begin preparations for the 2026 season.

Rookies reported one week ago, while select veterans recovering from injuries, including tight end George Kittle, arrived earlier this week to allow the team's medical and performance staff to evaluate their progress.

Sunday will also mark the 49ers' first open practice of training camp, giving fans their first opportunity to see veterans and rookies take the field together.

Although much of the starting lineup is already established, several important roster battles will headline training camp. The 49ers must determine their starting left guard, identify Christian McCaffrey's primary backup at running back, and address remaining questions in the defensive secondary, particularly at safety.

With the offseason officially winding down, the intensity is about to increase. The 49ers enter the 2026 season with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, but achieving those goals will require improved health after an injury-filled 2025 campaign.

Despite those challenges, San Francisco still won 12 regular-season games and secured a playoff berth last season. Now, the 49ers are looking to build on that success and make a deeper postseason run in pursuit of the franchise's sixth championship.
