There is still plenty of debate over where San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy ranks among the NFL's elite signal-callers. His omission from ESPN's recent top-10 quarterback rankings only intensified those discussions.

While Purdy isn't expected to be one of the first quarterbacks selected in fantasy football drafts, CBS Sports senior fantasy writer Heath Cummings believes the 49ers quarterback could be one of the best value picks available in the later rounds.

"The 49ers QB has 470 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in his last 24 games," Cummings wrote. "Adding that on top of the fact that he has been arguably the most efficient passer in the NFL since he came into the league, and you have yourself a surefire QB1 with top-five upside.

"Sound like hyperbole? Since Purdy's rookie season, 30 QBs have thrown at least 1,000 passes. Purdy ranks first in yards per attempt (8.6) and success rate (52.4%). He ranks second in touchdown rate (6.2%) and passer rating (104.0). He also ranks fourth in Fantasy points per game (22.18)."

Although Purdy isn't projected to come off the board among the first wave of fantasy quarterbacks, many managers are beginning to recognize the value he provides. Waiting on the 49ers quarterback allows fantasy players to use earlier picks on premium playmakers at other positions while still landing a proven, high-upside passer to help boost their numbers.

Entering his fifth NFL season, Purdy has thrown for 11,685 yards, 84 touchdowns, and 37 interceptions while earning a franchise-record 104.0 passer rating.

With a revamped receiving corps and a healthy group of veteran playmakers surrounding him, Purdy could be in position to deliver a productive fantasy campaign in 2026.

"If Mike Evans, George Kittle, Ricky Pearsall, and Christian McCaffrey all stay healthy, Purdy could absolutely be a top-four QB this year," Cummings concluded.
