There is little doubt that the San Francisco 49ers have some interest in trading for Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby. This move would bolster a pass rush that struggled to consistently pressure opposing quarterbacks last season.

The Raiders previously had a deal in place to send the veteran pass rusher to the Baltimore Ravens, but Baltimore unexpectedly backed out at the last moment, leaving Crosby with the team he desperately wanted to leave.


A young fan recently pleaded with Crosby to join the 49ers, to which the defender responded, "I can't. I can't. Hey, I still appreciate you doing your homework, though. You never know."

There is no indication the Raiders are actively shopping Crosby at the moment. However, given their previous willingness to move him, there's reason to believe they would listen if the right offer came along.

FanSided's Austen Bundy proposed three potential trade packages that could entice the Raiders to revisit a Crosby deal. One of those scenarios involves the 49ers.

If the proposal sounds familiar, it's because it has surfaced before. Last month, Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport suggested the same package, making it a popular framework for a potential blockbuster deal. It would also represent a significant return for the Raiders if they ultimately decide to move on from Crosby.

"At 29 years old, Crosby is still in his prime," Bundy wrote. "Any offer will require at least two draft picks, but in order to avoid the steep price Baltimore managed to weasel out of (two first-round picks), a young, promising player will have to head to Sin City as well. San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Mykel Williams fits that bill to pair with the draft capital the team would have to give up."

The 49ers selected Williams with their first-round draft pick last year. He is currently recovering from a torn ACL, so any team acquiring him would likely want assurances that he remains on track for a full recovery.

If a trade were to happen during the season, Williams could have time to return to the field and demonstrate that he is healthy before any deal is finalized.


"San Francisco still has an open championship window despite a myriad of injuries that swept through the team in 2025, but the defense seemed to be the area that was just one piece away from being elite," Bundy added. "Crosby is that piece, and even though they'd lose a promising prospect like Williams (one sack, 11 solo tackles in nine appearances), the desire to win now outweighs the future."
