Purdy has thrown for 11,685 career passing yards, 84 touchdowns, and 37 interceptions, cementing his status as the 49ers' franchise quarterback. But where does he rank among the NFL's best heading into the 2026 season?
Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus (PFF) recently ranked all 32 projected starting quarterbacks ahead of the 2026 NFL season, placing Purdy at No. 10. He finished behind several notable names, including Dak Prescott and Drake Maye.
The rankings were based on each quarterback's performance over the past three seasons, with heavy weight given to PFF's passing grades. Although Purdy missed eight games with a turf toe injury in 2025, he still threw for 2,167 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
PFF's top 10 quarterbacks:
- Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
- Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
- Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
- Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
- Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
- Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
- Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
- Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
- Drake Maye, New England Patriots
- Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
"The 49ers were hit by the injury bug harder than almost any other team in 2025, and their franchise quarterback didn't escape that misfortune," Wasserman and Chadwick wrote. "Purdy missed eight games with a turf toe injury but was highly effective when he was on the field. His 85.4 PFF grade ranked sixth among NFL quarterbacks, while his 65.8 passing grade under pressure ranked third. He has now ranked among the NFL's 10 highest-graded quarterbacks in each of the past three seasons."
Purdy's ability to avoid trouble also played a significant role in earning a top-10 ranking.
"Purdy's 9.0% pressure-to-sack rate was the best in the league in 2025, reflecting an ability to process and release the ball before the pocket fully collapses, and his accuracy percentage of 78.7% was among the highest marks among qualifiers," Wasserman and Chadwick added.
Around the NFC West, in addition to Stafford ranking No. 5, Sam Darnold of the Seattle Seahawks came in at No. 14, and Jacoby Brissett of the Arizona Cardinals ranked No. 31.
