Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport recently identified several hypothetical NFL trades that could reshape the 2026 playoff picture, and one of his proposals involved sending Crosby to San Francisco.
The Raiders nearly traded Crosby earlier this offseason before a deal with the Baltimore Ravens fell apart at the last minute. So what might it take to convince Las Vegas to revisit the idea?
Davenport believes a package consisting of a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and second-year defensive lineman Mykel Williams could be enough to get a deal done.
There are, however, a few obstacles.
Williams is currently recovering from an ACL injury, and the Raiders would likely want assurances that the former first-round pick is on track to make a full recovery before considering him as a part of any deal.
Additionally, Las Vegas has shown no indication that it plans to actively shop Crosby again.
"But the reality is the Raiders did try to trade Crosby this offseason," Davenport wrote. "The trajectory of the franchise hasn't changed since then—Vegas is a rebuilding team. And while this offer isn't as good as Baltimore's was, it's not that far off—a first, a day 2 pick, and a former first-round selection in Williams."
Adding Crosby would give the 49ers defense a dominant pass-rushing tandem, pairing him with Nick Bosa. While Bosa is also working his way back from an ACL injury, he is further along in his recovery than Williams and is expected to be ready for the start of the season.
Crosby remains one of the NFL's premier edge defenders. He has posted double-digit sack totals in three of the past four seasons and has accumulated 69.5 sacks over his seven-year NFL career.
"For the 49ers, it's a chance to match the Los Angeles Rams (or come close) in an NFC West arms race that escalated after the Myles Garrett deal and add some pop to a pass rush facing multiple questions as we head toward training camp," Davenport added.
