The 49ers acquired White last season in a trade with the New England Patriots, hoping to strengthen a struggling pass rush.
White recently spoke to R.org during a celebrity basketball event at Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona, where he was seen walking without a limp—an encouraging sign in his rehabilitation.
However, when asked whether he expects to be ready for the start of training camp, White remained cautious about setting a firm timeline.
"I feel pretty good," White said. "I'm just taking everything one day at a time and seeing where we are. You can't really focus on where you're going to be. You have to focus on where you are."
H/t to Niners Wire for the find.
White added that he is staying positive throughout the recovery process.
"I'm just keeping positive spirits that everything is going to take care of itself," White said. "I've been through injuries and everything."
The injury occurred in February during an incident at a San Francisco nightclub. A police spokesperson later clarified that the situation stemmed from an altercation involving rapper Lil Baby. However, he stated that White was not believed to have been directly involved in the dispute.
White appeared in nine games with the 49ers last season, including two starts. He recorded 12 tackles and 1.5 sacks following the trade from the Patriots.
San Francisco is hopeful he can regain full form and contribute to the defensive rotation once healthy.
