"I know that Jauan wore it last year," Stribling said. "So kind of just being ready for anything that comes in that opportunity."
Jennings remains a free agent, but Stribling's selection at No. 33 overall after the offseason additions of veterans Mike Evans and Christian Kirk signaled that the 49ers had moved on.
The move, paired with Stribling taking over No. 15, further underscores the organization's transition at the position.
Jennings was originally selected in the seventh round by the 49ers in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, he sought a more lucrative contract this offseason, ultimately leading to his departure. The team is also expected to move on from veteran Brandon Aiyuk as part of its massive overhaul at wide receiver.
Stribling arrives in San Francisco after a college career that included 2,964 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns. Twelve of those touchdowns came over his final two seasons. In 2025, his lone season at Ole Miss, he recorded 55 receptions for 811 yards and six touchdowns, per Sports Reference.
