The San Francisco 49ers are expected to target offensive line help in the 2026 NFL Draft, and adding a versatile lineman capable of playing multiple positions could be enticing.

One potential option is former Oregon offensive lineman Alex Harkey, who revealed he has already connected with San Francisco during the pre-draft process.


In an interview with Sports Illustrated's Justin Melo, Harkey said he met virtually with several teams, including the 49ers.

"I met with the Las Vegas Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and Miami Dolphins on Zoom," Harkey told Melo.

Melo notes that NFL teams believe Harkey may have true five-position versatility at the pro level.

Harkey is projected to be a Day 3 selection later this month. He measured 6-foot-5 and 313 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine and has played at Tyler Junior College, Colorado, Texas State, and Oregon.

During the 2025 season, Harkey started all 14 games at right tackle but also offers experience at guard—an added layer of versatility that could appeal to teams like the 49ers. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed just two sacks and 20 pressures across 467 pass-blocking snaps.


Harkey was also part of an Oregon offensive line unit that finished as a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, given annually to the nation's top offensive line.
