Right guard Dominick Puni joined Bay Area station KNBR this week and offered candid insight into what makes Purdy such a steadying force in the huddle.
"He is unbelievable, and I'm so blessed to have a quarterback like him," Puni said. "He's just so unwavering in everything he does. He started the game off with a pick-six. We go back to the sideline, and nothing changes in any of his mannerisms and the way he leads us. He just tells us, 'Hey, let's go back out there, let's just go march it down, and act like nothing happened.' And that's exactly what we did."
Puni praised Purdy's composure, noting how the quarterback's consistency helps keep the offensive line and receivers locked in, even during high-stakes moments.
"When he commands the huddle, he comes in, and he's always the same guy," Puni said. "He's never panicked. He's never not there. He's always in the moment, making sure we're good. He always matches the vibe that needs to be had, and it's just a blessing to be able to play with him."
Purdy may be playing his best football right now. Over his last three games, he has completed 74.2% of his passes for 893 yards, 11 touchdowns, and two interceptions, posting a 131.5 passer rating while elevating San Francisco's offense into one of the NFL's most explosive units.
Puni also highlighted Purdy's mobility, an underrated part of the quarterback's game that continues to show up—and has made the offensive line look good.
"Playing with Brock is very cool because he's always on rhythm and on timing, and when the play's not there, he's able to create with his feet," Puni said. "If one of the O-linemen gets beat quick up front, he's able to get out of it, get us out of a bad situation, and make us look a little better. He's the man.
"And obviously, he's showing everybody what he can do with his feet—a couple of plays he made Sunday. It's just so fun to play with him, and I think he's just going to keep continuing to get better."
