Kendrick Bourne isn't shy about the San Francisco 49ers' championship outlook. Appearing on the Speakeasy podcast with Emmanuel Acho and LeSean McCoy, the veteran wide receiver praised the team's mindset and highlighted why he believes this year's 49ers are built to finish the job.

McCoy didn't mince words when comparing the 2019 NFC champion 49ers to the current roster.


"Jimmy G's hot garbage," McCoy said bluntly.

Bourne, who played alongside Jimmy Garoppolo during that 2019 Super Bowl run and rejoined the 49ers earlier this season, didn't exactly push back. Instead, he pointed to the difference quarterback Brock Purdy has made, making it clear that the 49ers signal-caller is the best he's played with.

"Shady do got a point. Quarterback play is lit," Bourne said. "I was with Jimmy Garoppolo, played great. We just didn't finish it out. But Brock is a different monster, man. I've never experienced a quarterback like this. The scrambling.

"I'm learning how to play with him still. It's been a couple of weeks I've been with him, but the scramble drill is just elite. That's the new wave of the quarterback: scrambling, making plays, two rushing touchdowns, throwing for some."

Bourne continues to build chemistry with Purdy, who has the 49ers offense surging as the postseason nears. But the receiver emphasized that Purdy's play is only part of the team's winning formula.


Bourne acknowledges that there is also a special energy in this current 49ers locker room, fueling their recent momentum.

"It's how we connect," Bourne explained. "People understanding that there's opportunity out here to make your name. Big players going down, this is where other people be creative. So, are you ready for the moment? Are you not?

"And I think a lot of us are understanding that in our mind, 'Hey, this is my moment. If I can seize this moment, then it's gonna be good for my career, my life.' And then that breeds winning. So I think that's what's been powerful so far."

Asked why he thinks the 49ers can win Super Bowl LX, which will be played at Levi's Stadium, Bourne didn't hesitate.

"Because we're poised," he said. "We're ready for the moment. That's what matters. We've been playing in primetime the last two weeks, maybe three weeks in a row, and we show up every time when the lights is on. So if we can play like we play when the lights is on, like that, that's what it is. That's what the whole playoffs is about—it's the moment. And I think we've been seizing every moment.


"To be on a [six]-game winning streak has been powerful. We've just gotta keep that momentum, keep believing in each other, and never doubting. They already got the story written, where we lost everybody, but that's low-key been trumped for the last whole year. So we can't use that as an excuse in the building.

"So, I think we've been doing a good job of just believing in who we are, and that's why it gives us a chance."

With a confident locker room, an offense firing on all cylinders, and a quarterback proving his doubters wrong, Bourne's message is clear: the 49ers believe they are capable of winning it all.
