It would be naive to think Saleh isn't eyeing another opportunity to become an NFL head coach. He interviewed for openings this past offseason but didn't land a job and ultimately returned to the 49ers for his second stint with the team—his first being from 2017 through 2020.
When asked this week about his coaching endgame, Saleh made it clear that his focus remains squarely on the present.
"The endgame is trying to find a win on Sunday, and we'll go from there," Saleh stated.
For now, Saleh isn't worried about his future or potential coaching opportunities. His immediate goal is to lead San Francisco's defense against the Houston Texans and help the 49ers secure their sixth win of the season.
The 49ers hope to remain atop the NFC West standings and return to the playoffs after falling short last year.
