The most significant development from Wednesday's injury report is Brock Purdy's return to practice—though only as a limited participant. The quarterback is working his way back from the toe injury he suffered in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. In his absence, Mac Jones started Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints.
When asked if Purdy has a chance to play this weekend against the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Kyle Shanahan responded, "Yeah, he does have a chance."
Players who were injured against the Saints and did not practice on Wednesday are offensive lineman Spencer Burford (knee), wide receiver Jauan Jennings (ankle, shoulder), fullback Kyle Juszczyk (concussion), and cornerback Siran Neal (concussion).
Tackle Trent Williams (knee), who was a true game-time decision against the Saints, also did not practice. However, he often receives veteran rest days during the first practice of the week. Williams' participation in Thursday's session will provide a clearer indication of his availability for Week 3.
Below are Wednesday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Cardinals, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
