"49ers playing hardball with Purdy is very on brand," La Canfora wrote. "Starting your offers at $45M a year is something."
Naturally, the reported figure has fueled ongoing debate about Purdy's value, with some arguing the offer is too low while others believe it's reasonable.
Jeremiah didn't comment on the reported number but expressed confidence that a deal will get done.
"I think it's in the interest of the player and the team to get it worked out," Jeremiah told Rich Eisen. "To me, [head coach] Kyle [Shanahan] just loves him so much and has not been shy about it. And he can operate what he wants, exactly how he wants.
"I would imagine that this thing's going to get done. I'd be pretty confident that they'll find some common ground there. What that number looks like, if that gets to—maybe it's 50, a little over 50? I don't think he's going to reset the market there at 60.
"But to me, it just makes too much sense. It's such a good fit. Just figure it out, how you're going to get it done."
Unprompted, Jeremiah also touched on reports of the 49ers' potential willingness to trade wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk despite already agreeing to send Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders.
"But by the sound of it, with Aiyuk potentially being on the trade market, we've got to get some more receivers in here, Rich," Jeremiah added. "We've got to find some guys for [Purdy] to throw to."
