However, Purdy's value has sparked debate. Where will he land among the league's top-earning quarterbacks? Currently, Dak Prescott leads the list with an average annual salary of $60 million. While most don't expect Purdy to surpass that figure, Daniel believes he could fall into the same range as Jared Goff or Trevor Lawrence.
"I don't think they're going to run into a lot of [negotiation] problems," Russini said during the conversation. "I do not forecast this being one of these situations where he's trying to break the bank. I don't think the Niners are going to undervalue him. I think they're going to probably be able to meet at a reasonable number."
Daniel argues that by pushing for an extension now, Purdy might be sacrificing some leverage. However, from the 49ers' perspective, locking him in at market value today could look like a bargain in the future.
"I would be really, really happy for Brock Purdy if it landed right above Trevor Lawrence," Daniel said. "In the 53 to 55 [million dollar] range. I feel like they would feel comfortable in that because a lot of people aren't talking about the cap is going up a lot this year. And I'd imagine it being at $300 million here pretty soon. It's like 270-something right now.
"Imagine if you get a five-year deal done, or a four-year deal—whatever Brock wants to get done. So, it's five total years. By the time his new contract's up, quarterback's are gonna be going for $70 million. So, if he's still playing at [this] level three or four years from now, it's gonna look like a bargain at $54 million."
Russini reiterated that she doesn't expect negotiations between Purdy and the team to stall, as both sides are eager to reach an agreement quickly.
