"We have suspended De'Vondre Campbell for three games due to conduct detrimental to the team," Lynch said. "We will have no further comment on the matter."
Campbell refused to play in last week's game against the Los Angeles Rams and was allegedly told by Lynch to leave the field. The linebacker was reportedly upset after losing his starting job to Dre Greenlaw, who returned from a torn Achilles injury.
The 49ers opted to suspend Campbell instead of releasing him, likely to recoup a portion of his signing bonus and prevent him from joining another team for the rest of the season.
The 49ers will close out their season with games against the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and Arizona Cardinals.
