Additionally, the team has signed wide receiver Russell Gage and safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. to the practice squad, released wide receiver Malik Turner from the practice squad, and opened the practice window for defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos, who has been on the injured reserve list since October 5.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.
Davis (6-2, 315) was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the sixth-round (194th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Throughout his four-year career with the Buccaneers (2020), Indianapolis Colts (2021) and Houston Texans (2023-24), he has appeared in 27 games (one start) and registered 43 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He has also appeared in four postseason contests and added six tackles and one tackle for loss. In 2024 with Houston, Davis has appeared in nine games and registered nine tackles, four tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.
A 28-year-old native of Blue Springs, MO, Davis attended the University of Nebraska for three years (2015-19) where he appeared in 47 games and registered 105 tackles, 13.0 sacks, two passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Davis earned Third-Team All-Big Ten honors as a senior (2019).
Gage (6-0, 184) was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round (194th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. Throughout his seven-year NFL career with the Falcons (2018-21), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2022-24) and Baltimore Ravens (2024) he has appeared in 74 games (25 starts) and registered 244 receptions for 2,491 yards and 14 touchdowns and added six carries for 21 yards. He has also appeared in one postseason contest where he tallied two receptions for 10 yards. In 2024, Gage signed with the Ravens on August 6 and was waived by the team on August 26.
A 28-year-old native of Baton Rouge, LA, Gage attended the Louisiana State University (2014-18) where he appeared in 27 games (six starts) and totaled 26 receptions for 347 yards and four touchdowns while adding 28 carries for 232 yards and one touchdown.
Gipson Sr. (6-1, 212) originally entered the NFL after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns on May 9, 2012. Throughout his 12-year NFL career with the Browns (2012-15), Jacksonville Jaguars (2016-18 & 2024), Houston Texans (2019), Chicago Bears (2020-21) and 49ers (2022-23), he has appeared in 173 games (165 starts) and registered 680 tackles, 68 passes defensed, 33 interceptions with three returned for a touchdown, three fumble recoveries, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble. He has also started 10 postseason contests where he tallied 35 tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and 1.0 sack. In 2024, Gipson Sr. signed with the Jaguars on August 11 and was released by the team on November 4.
A 34-year-old native of Dallas, Texas, Gipson Sr. attended the University of Wyoming where he appeared in 50 games and registered 250 tackles, 30 passes defensed, nine interceptions, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 1.0 sack.
Turner (6-2, 202) originally signed with the team's practice squad on October 23, 2024.
