Curious about his thoughts on the Chiefs, the reporters said they asked Rice if the Chiefs' receiving corps was good enough to win another Super Bowl.
Rice confronted the two, telling one of them, "I will f--k you up," before another individual intervened. He continued, "If you want some, come get some," as he walked away.
The video does not make it clear why Rice, who is generally very accommodating to the media, became so irate.
"We talked to Jerry -- he says the guys had smirks on their faces and were trolling him," wrote Michael J. Babcock, an executive producer for TMZ.
Babcock adds that Rice said, "I'm going to defend the San Francisco 49ers."
"That's the craziest thing that's ever happened in my life," one of the two baffled reporters stated after the exchange. "... I'm just confused on how that turned into that."
The other reporter explained, "Our receiving [corps] is awful. That's why we're asking the best receiver if our awful receiving [corps was good enough to win another Super Bowl]."
