The Dallas Cowboys signed Brendel (6-4, 299) as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in 2016. He joined the 49ers on February 7, 2020, but missed his first season with the team after opting out of the 2020 season due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Brendel, 30, has 54 game appearances in 54 game appearances (20 starts) through his six NFL seasons, also spending time on the rosters of the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens.
San Francisco lost right tackle Mike McGlinchey in free agency. He is signing a five-year, $87.5 million deal with the Denver Broncos.
