SANTA CLARA — The 49ers had a shortened on-field session on Monday ahead of their joint practice with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday. The only addition to the team’s long list of players sidelined due to injuries was star running back Christian McCaffrey, who dealt with a little “tightness,” according to team representatives. This gave more reps to Patrick Taylor Jr. with Brock Purdy under center.
Both the 49ers offense and defense made solid plays in practice, with neither group really dominating the other through the session.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel continues to be involved in both the run and pass games while on the field with both Purdy and backup Mac Jones. The versatile receiver’s rep count has gone up quite a bit since his 10-play first practice at the start of camp.
