SANTA CLARA — On Thursday, quarterback Brock Purdy had a sharp day at practice, as he routinely hit some big plays over the top of the 49ers’ defense.The defensive backfield got back at him on Saturday with a pair of pick-sixes from a couple key members of the team’s secondary.
Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir and nickel back Upton Stout made the big plays against Purdy on the 49ers’ final practice before a scheduled day off on Sunday.
During a red-zone session, Lenoir stepped in front of Purdy’s pass intended for Demarcus Robinson at the goal line.
Once Lenoir secured the ball in his hands, he was off to the races with a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Near the end of practice, it was Stout’s turn to pick off Purdy and take it all the way.
Stout had strong coverage against Robinson and made the interception. He returned it 25 yards into the end zone, and punctuated the effort with a front flip over the goal line.
