The San Francisco 49ers have signed offensive lineman Kion Smith to a one-year deal. To make room on the roster, the team waived wide receiver Colton Dowell.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.
Smith (6-5, 300) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2021. Throughout his five-year NFL career with the Falcons (2021) and Miami Dolphins (2022-25), he has appeared in 23 games (two starts) along the offensive line. In 2025, Smith appeared in 14 games (two starts) with the Dolphins.
A 27-year-old native of Lumberton, NC, Smith attended Fayetteville State University for three seasons (2016-19), where he appeared in 20 games (18 starts) along the team's offensive line.
Dowell (6-3, 212) originally signed with the team on January 14, 2025.
