Coach Kyle Shanahan’s recovery reached another level Saturday morning when he stood in front of the 49ers for the first time since his car accident on July 14.“He’s doing better, he’s doing better,” 49ers general manager John Lynch said of Shanahan when he met with reporters in Santa Clara on Saturday.
“He addressed the team for the first time this morning as a whole. And they were excited. He got a nice welcome. And it was good to have him up there.”
Shanahan sustained fractures to his nose, ribs and left hand. He had a deep V-shaped gash around his right eye that required plastic surgery.
Physically, Shanahan is progressing well. But he told reporters on Tuesday that the concussion symptoms continued to be a big issue.
“I know I’ll be all right,” Shanahan said.
