SANTA CLARA — The 49ers’ offense was seventh in total yards last season, and that is generally where objective analysts ranked the team’s offensive line, too.The 49ers return four multi-year starters: left tackle Trent Williams, center Jake Brendel, right guard Dominick Puni and right tackle Colton McKivitz.
McKivitz believes the continuity on the offensive line sets the team up to experience more success in 2026.
Pro Football Focus graded the 49ers as having the NFL’s fifth-best offensive line last season, citing McKivitz’s breakout season as one of the highlights.
While the 49ers’ run game saw a significant drop in average yards per rushing attempt, only four teams surrendered fewer sacks than the 49ers last year.
And McKivitz believes the unit should be able to take another step forward.
“We’re better off at the beginning of this year than we have been since I’ve been here,” McKivitz said during the first week of the 49ers’ organized team activities. “So depth-wise, yeah, we have it.”
