Upton Stout recalls NFL debut in Seattle as 49ers prepare for playoff showdown

SANTA CLARA — Of course, Upton Stout felt the nerves.It was Week 1, and he was making his NFL debut in a key early season matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, an NFC West rival.“I was nervous, but it was also like, ‘I got to get a job done,’ ” Stout told NBC Sports Bay Area. “And then it was also my first game because I had missed [the] preseason. So it was like everything was just going fast.”Stout was wide-eyed, literally.“I was just seeing everything,” he said. “You know, as a DB, if you see everything, you’re seeing too much.”The 49ers selected Stout with the No. 100 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Western Kentucky. He was San Francisco’s starting nickel back to open the season despite being sidelined for all three preseason games with a calf injury.Stout played 29 of the 49ers’ 52 defensive snaps and broke up a pass in the 49ers’ 17-13 victory in the opener.
