49ers star Fred Warner officially ruled out for playoff game vs. Seahawks

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers on Thursday closed the door on the possibility of All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner returning to action to face the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night.The 49ers ruled out Warner on their official injury report, coach Kyle Shanahan announced.Warner was on the field at the beginning of practice on Thursday but was the only player not wearing a helmet as the 49ers went through their opening drills. Warner was listed as a limited participant in practices Tuesday and Wednesday.The 49ers, the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs, travel to face the top-seeded Seahawks on Saturday night at 5 p.m. PT. The winner will advance to the NFC Championship Game.Shanahan said he was confident after seeing Warner this week that he could be available to play if the 49ers move to the next round of the playoffs.Warner sustained a fractured and dislocated right ankle in the 49ers’ Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 12.
