SANTA CLARA — Brian Robinson Jr.’s running style paired nicely with 49ers teammate Christian McCaffrey on Sunday at the beginning of the third quarter.McCaffrey is shifty. He is equal parts runner and receiver. Robinson has more of a bruising style and looks to run over defenders. He has just 15 yards receiving this season.Robinson figures he must be more similar to McCaffrey to earn more opportunities as the team’s backup.“I want to start being able to do more things that he’s able to do, as far as catching the ball out of the backfield and stuff like that,” Robinson said. “And maybe that will bring more opportunities to me.”McCaffrey ranks second in the NFL behind Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor with 1,318 yards from scrimmage. McCaffrey has 626 yards as a runner and 692 as a receiver.Robinson was acquired in a trade from the Washington Commander just before the start of the 2025 NFL regular season.
