The San Francisco 49ers held their 12th full training camp practice on Saturday as they continued preparations for the 2026 NFL season. It is the first of three practices ahead of the team's second preseason game, a road matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The upcoming practice slate includes a joint session with the Chargers on Tuesday in El Segundo, California.
The 49ers worked out tight end Khalil Dinkins, whom the team waived on July 25 with a non-football injury designation.

Offensive notes
The starters received more work than usual, which makes sense. They did not play against the Titans, while the backups played significant snaps.
Wide receiver Mike Evans participated in team drills for the first time since returning from a quad strain. He caught a perfect pass from quarterback Brock Purdy over the middle despite good coverage from cornerback Deommodore Lenoir.
Purdy connected with wide receiver Trenton Irwin and tight end Luke Farrell for deep gains. Farrell also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Purdy.
Purdy has had an outstanding training camp, and it will be exciting to see him against the Chargers—if he plays.
After impressing in the preseason opener, rookie wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling had another solid practice, hauling in multiple passes, including one from Purdy over the middle for a nice gain. Stribling also caught a pass from Mac Jones over the middle. He could be an offensive difference-maker in 2026.
Purdy has developed good chemistry with wide receiver Demarcus Robinson, who caught multiple passes during practice. The veteran receiver continues to shine in practices. Now, he needs to continue that success in games.
The 49ers continue to use wide receiver Deebo Samuel all over the field. He lined up at multiple receiver spots and in the backfield while also working on fielding kickoffs. Quarterback Adrian Martinez connected with Samuel on a deep pass.
Connor Colby and rookie Carver Willis rotated at left guard with the first-team offense during team drills. Robert Jones had been at that spot during previous practices. Jones was limited but got some work at right guard with the second-team offense. It's worth noting that Jones started against the Titans and appears to be getting some rest.
"I know it's a competition," tackle Trent Williams said after practice. "Those guys are competing. It's a three-man race, so may the best man win. But they're all playing their butts off. Obviously, Carver is the youngest, and he's got a little more to learn, but he has a high ceiling, a lot of potential. I can't wait to see how he develops."
Austen Pleasants got some snaps at left guard with the third-team offense.
In his first practice back from injury, wide receiver Jacob Cowing hauled in a deep pass from Jones late in practice.
The practice ended with Jones connecting with wide receiver Malik Turner for a 25-yard touchdown.
Defensive notes
Defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa continues to look like a difference-maker for the defense. He consistently beat his blockers while going against the first-team offensive line.
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw was suited up but limited to work on the side. In his place, rookie Jaden Dugger got work next to Fred Warner during team drills.
Cornerback Jack Jones, a training camp standout, had an injury scare against the Titans. However, he was suited up for practice and picked up right where he left off. He scooped up the football after a fumble by running back Khalil Herbert.
As mentioned above, Evans hauled in a pass despite good coverage by Lenoir, but Lenoir also broke up a Purdy pass intended for Robinson. Cornerback Renardo Green also broke up a pass.
Rookie safety Jalen Stroman intercepted a pass from Mac Jones that was intended for Robinson. Stroman got a jump on the ball, bringing in the only interception of practice.
Rookie defensive end Romello Height beat Colby for a would-be sack during team drills.
Next practice
The 49ers will return to the practice field on Sunday, August 16 at 10:15 a.m. PT. The session will be the last one that is open to fans.
