Evans is the 49ers' prized free-agent acquisition. The longtime Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver is entering his 13th NFL season but continues to perform at a high level. He is expected to provide quarterback Brock Purdy with the best boundary target and red-zone weapon of his career.
Evans is coming off an injury-plagued 2025 campaign in which he appeared in just eight games, recording a career-low 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns.
Before 2025, Evans had recorded over 1,000 receiving yards in 11 consecutive seasons, tying an NFL record held by 49ers legend Jerry Rice.
Missing from Tuesday's practice is running back Christian McCaffrey, marking his second consecutive absence. The 49ers announced Monday that McCaffrey is dealing with "tightness." However, he is observing practice.
Additionally, defensive end Nick Bosa continues to miss practice due to "soreness." This marks the fifth consecutive full practice Bosa has missed while dealing with the issue.
