NFL free agency continues to produce interesting storylines even after the initial rush of signings. With training camp approaching, several experienced veterans remain without teams, creating fresh speculation around where they could land next. Stars like Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, Deebo Samuel, Keenan Allen, DeAndre Hopkins, Najee Harris, and Haason Reddick have all been linked with potential contenders looking for one final round before the season begins.
Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports matched several free agents with potential destinations. Hill is projected as a possible reunion candidate for the Kansas City Chiefs, while Diggs is connected to the Washington Commanders. Samuel is being viewed as a fit for the Los Angeles Rams. Allen for the Baltimore Ravens, Hopkins for the Buffalo Bills, and Harris for the Seahawks.
Among teams making the most buzz in these projections are the San Francisco 49ers. Despite reshaping parts of their roster this offseason, the Niners are still being linked with two notable free agents in edge rusher Joey Bosa and veteran guard Kevin Zeitler. Both players address areas where San Francisco could use experienced depth before the regular season begins.
Joey Bosa remains one of the biggest names available on the market. The former Bills pass rusher is reportedly weighing retirement as he approaches his 31st birthday, but if he decides to continue playing, the 49ers will be one of his most logical destinations. The biggest attraction is the opportunity to line up alongside his younger brother Nick Bosa for the first time in the NFL. Joey is coming off a 2025 season recording five sacks, 42 pressures, and leading the league with five forced fumbles despite playing a rotational role.
The fit also makes sense because the Niners' current situation, since Nick Bosa and fellow rusher Mykel Williams are both working their way back from a season-ending ACL injury, makes pass-rush depth an important need. Even if Joey is no longer in his prime, his experience and ability to create turnovers for the 49ers are a reliable option for the franchise.
Kevin Zeitler is another veteran strongly linked with the 49ers. The 36-year-old offensive guard has built a reputation as one of the league's most dependable interior linemen. During his career, he has blocked for five different 1,000-yard rushers, making him a natural fit in Kyle Shanahan's run-first offense. San Francisco currently has Connor Colby, a 2025 seventh-round pick, competing for the left guard job, but Zeitler would offer an immediate upgrade with his experience and consistency.
Zeitler is also believed to be looking for another chance to compete for a Super Bowl, making San Francisco an attractive destination compared to rebuilding teams. He always maintained a high level of play, playing 909 offensive snaps, earning a 74.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, and starting all 16 games for the Titans in 2025.
For now, both Joey Bosa and Kevin Zeitler remain free agents, but as training camp draws closer, the 49ers remain one of the teams most frequently mentioned as a landing spot. Zeitler can be a 'no-brainer' for the 49ers, given that he can stabilize either left or right guard, per SI. If either move materializes, San Francisco could add proven veterans capable of filling key needs without making a blockbuster trade.
