Ten games into the 2020 season, San Francisco 49ers rookie defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw finally has his first sack. He brought down quarterback Taysom Hill in the third quarter of the team's road game against the New Orleans Saints, forcing a punt.

The heavily-favored Saints still lead the 49ers 17-10.

While Kinlaw is probably excited about his first NFL sack, he probably wants the win more than anything else.

"I'm not really worried about sacking the QB," Kinlaw said last month. "I'm just worried about just getting a win, honestly. All that stuff comes a part of playing D-line, and trying to get the quarterback, and things like that. But the main thing is to win."

Here is how a couple of Kinlaw's sidelined teammates reacted to the defender's first career sack.

By David Bonilla
May 29

ESPN's Nick Wagoner recently analyzed the situations of two San Francisco 49ers players set to become free agents next year, revealing that each might face very different paths. Brandon Aiyuk has yet to rejoin his teammates for organized team activities, which shouldn't come as a surprise. As the team's leading receiver last season, he is seeking a contract extension and is unlikely to hit the practice field again until a lucrative deal is agreed upon. "Like some of the other 49ers stars before him (George Kittle, Fred Warner, Deebo Samuel, Nick Bosa), patience might again be the operative word," Wagoner wrote in the

Brock Purdy, the 24-year-old starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, has faced significant adversity in his first two NFL seasons. He was buried on the team's depth chart as a rookie, working tirelessly to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. Injuries eventually thrust him into the starting lineup, where he thrived before suffering an injury in the NFC Championship Game. Last offseason, Purdy spent most of his time rehabbing his surgically repaired elbow and did not throw to teammates until training camp. Some wondered if he would be healthy enough to start Week 1, but Purdy proved his doubters wrong. Not only was he ready, but he set a single-season franchise record with 4,280 passing yards while leading the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance. Now, for the

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers are widely regarded as having one of the most talented rosters in the NFL, and analytics site Pro Football Focus agrees with that sentiment. Contributors Jim Wyman and Dalton Wasserman recently assessed and ranked all 32 NFL rosters, placing the 49ers at the top of their list. "San Francisco had three players who ranked inside the top two of their position in overall grade last season — Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle," the contributors explained. "They also had Deebo Samuel, who finished 12th among wide receivers in receiving grade. Simply put, the 49ers are still stacked with offensive

Edholm: 49ers boast NFL's most complete roster in 2024

By David Bonilla
May 22

The San Francisco 49ers are once again recognized as having one of the best rosters in the NFL. Is it perfect? No. There are concerns about the offensive line, particularly on the right side. The defensive interior lost veteran Arik Armstead. At safety, Talanoa Hufanga returns from a major injury, while Ji'Ayir Brown enters his sophomore NFL season. Still, the team boasts an impressive amount of talent and depth that few others can match. NFL Media's Eric Edholm recently assessed the league and identified the 10 most complete teams entering the 2024 season. The 49ers topped his list, ahead of the Baltimore Ravens and the Super Bowl champion Kansas City
